Open Energi's solution includes proprietary technology that manages the power consumption of equipment, responding automatically to second-by-second changes in the balance between supply and demand on the grid. Appliances, such as fridges and electric heaters, switch off and on throughout the day and Open Energi’s technology, without affecting the primary function of appliances, merely changes the timing of these switching events to match demand on the grid. If widely deployed, Open Energi’s technology could save two million tonnes of CO2 per year in the UK alone.
