Sheffield – 1st July, 2017. Iceotope, a leading provider of data centre cooling technology, today announced the appointment of Steve Barber as Chairman of the Board with immediate effect.
Steve, who has over 30 years’ experience in the information technology hardware sector, will work with Iceotope’s management team to assist in positioning the company’s technology at the heart of next generation data centre architectures. The drive towards environmentally friendly, high efficiency data centres represents a phenomenal opportunity for the company.

For 11 years, Steve was CEO of Xyratex, a leading provider of data storage solutions to major global information technology brands, and capital equipment to the disk drive sector. From a career with IBM, a member of a successful Management Buy-Out team, Steve was appointed CEO of Xyratex in 2003, first leading a Private Equity investment in the company, then a NASDAQ IPO a year later in 2004. The company grew revenues to $1.6bn before being acquired in 2013.

Steve currently holds non-executive positions with RedLux Ltd., a leading provider of precision non-contact measurement systems; Arkivum Ltd., a leading provider of data archiving solutions; and the University of Southampton Science Park providing best-in-class incubator services to innovative technology companies.
